Get the support you need
A Power of Attorney is a legal document that allows someone to make decisions for you, or act on your behalf, in the event that you are not able to do so yourself.
With people now living longer, it is increasingly likely that at some stage in life we will require assistance with our financial affairs and decisions that relate to our care and welfare. A power of Attorney document transfers such powers to a person or people that you implicitly trust, in the event that you are unable to make these decisions for yourself.
When can I set up a Power of Attorney?
Power of Attorney documents can be created by any adult at any stage of their life. The document can be drafted in such a way that it only comes into force from the moment a doctor certifies that the adult has lost capacity and relies on someone else to manage their affairs.
As an unfortunate reality we never know what lies just around the corner with regards to our health and wellbeing and whilst we hope that a Power of Attorney is never required, it can make your life and the lives of your loved ones much easier and much less expensive than might have been the case without such an arrangement.
